Add lightweight, scalable animation to your AR project with Lottie Animation!

Have you noticed how animation has taken over our lives? Everywhere you look ― a banner with gradually appearing letters ― a company logo, a short cartoon on the tube, even traffic lights trying to show a moving person on the road. Not to mention websites and social media! There are a lot of them. So many, in fact, that we don’t even notice some of them.

Every day, almost everyone clicks a heart or thumbs up on a post, picture, music or article they like. And we don’t even realize that even such a small action has its own animation. Not so long ago, things were different.

In the past, adding animations to applications and the web was very problematic. They were heavy, didn’t always play correctly and often lost quality. But users were still very demanding when it came to visual effects. So the problem of the weight of high quality images had to be solved somehow.

Studio Lottie took on the task. Lottie is a web development, iOS, Android and React Native library that renders After Effects animations in real time, allowing websites and apps to use animation as easily as a static image. It was created by engineers at Airbnb.

Because of its simplicity and ease of embedding into various applications, this technology is used by well-known companies such as Google, Elevate, eero, The New York Times, Instacart, Uber, Walgreens, iHeartRadio, etc.

Why talk about animation? Because in the DEVAR (MyWebAR) platform you can use not only 3D animation, but also flat animation!

You can do this with the Spine Animations extension or with the Lottie Animation extension.

How it works:

  • Let’s start by going to the main menu and clicking on the Create New Project.
  • Click on the Extension tab in the left-hand menu.
  • Find the Lottie Animation and click on it and tap to the Instal button.

The Lottie Animation extension gives you more tools to make your project more visually appealing to users. You can add animated stickers, visual effects logos, live action photos and tutorials without worrying that your video won’t play when you need it to.

Lottie also has a library of free and paid-for animations available for download. Find something you like, download your favorite animation in JSON format and upload it to DEVAR (MyWebAR).

Movement is life, as the greats say. And we agree with them. Let’s explore augmented reality to move! Create your AR project now!

Best regards,
DEVAR (MyWebAR) Team
